h&m homework

our second day of class we had a homework assignment in which we had to make a trip to a "trendsetting" retail store. we had the choice of going to Scoop in Greenwich, Anthropologie in Greenwich or Westport or H&M in Stamford. our assignment was to pick out 3 outfits: one classic, one sexy and one trashy with me being the potential client. i choose to go to H&M because they were open until 9pm during the week. it was not my first choice because the last time i was there i wasn't impressed with their clothing and the quality for the prices. this time they proved me wrong, except for their sizing. i felt this line of clothing was more like me than i ever would have thought. there were so many pants and shirts that were classic and simple but could make such a statement. i gave myself an hour to do the assignment and i could have stayed an hour longer at least. i could have chosen a few outfits to fall under 'classic'. first i choose a dress that looked like a shirt/skirt combo. it was black pencil skirt attached to a beige top with tuxedo ruffles and black fabric buttons lined with gold. it also had an inch thick black fabric belt that tied around in the center of your waist. i also choose a pair of wide legged black trousers that had pockets lined with buttons. the shirt i picked to wear with it was a fitted short sleeved button down in white. there was a bib of lace like material. the reason i had chosen these two outfits out of the many i tried on is because my look is very simple. these outfits were the most like me. i really liked the dress as soon as i saw it, but i tend to not wear as many dresses. i also really liked the shirt and paired with the pants it is something i could wear more often than the dress. although they both has a classic feel for me, the shirt and pants had a more romantic feel that i really liked. for the 'sexy' outfit i found a slinky white wrap dress with black flower print. it also had a satin belt that i really liked. it really hugged the body, itvwas low cut but not too low and the fabric was so smooth. the 'trashy' outfit i though would be easier to pick than it really was. in the end i chose a short jean skirt and a spaghetti strap red plaid shirt. it looked a little trashy country for me. i have a hard time with plaid. it is not something that i really ever wear. the last outfit is what i brought home! i tried the shirt on tucked into the white pants. i loved the woven details on the shirt straps and belt that comes with the pants.
